What is the ‘Working Forward Small Business Awards’?

At Synchrony we understand the impact that strong, healthy, high-performing small businesses can have in the communities they serve. To emphasize our commitment to helping small businesses grow and positively impact their local communities, Synchrony will award $20,000 each to ten (10) winners of its Working Forward Small Business Awards. Each of the ten Award winners will receive $10,000 to use to grow their business plus an additional $10,000 to use to better the community where they work and live.

What are the dates of the Working Forward Small Business Awards?

The Working Forward Small Business Awards will run September 25, 2017 through October 30, 2017. Award winners will be notified the week of December 4, 2017. See Contest Official Rules for details.

Do I have to be a Synchrony dealer to win an Award?

Yes. The contest is open to Synchrony dealers with 30 or fewer full-time, year round employees. See Contest Official Rules for details.

Can I save my application and finish it later?

No. The entry form does not have a Save feature. We recommend drafting your questionnaire responses offline in a word processing application and cutting and pasting your responses into the contest form.

What are the contest questionnaire requirements?

To enter, eligible dealers will be required to visit the Working Forward Small Business Awards website (www.synchronybusiness.com/awards) and complete and submit the required information, including a 200 word (or less) response for each of the four questions provided:

  1. Tell us about your business — specifically describe what makes your business unique and why you believe your customers choose to do business with you.
  2. Tell us about the greatest challenge(s) facing your business today and what barriers are keeping you from taking your business to the next level.
  3. Specifically describe how you would use $10,000 to grow your business. Describe and give examples of the impact this award could have on your business, your employees and/or your customers.
  4. Your community has been a big supporter of your business – and now you have the opportunity to give back. Please describe in detail how you would use $10,000 to make a big impact in your community. Tell us how this award will help make your neighborhood a better place to live, work or play.

When complete, applications are submitted by clicking the ‘SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY’ button. All contest applications must be submitted by 11:59:59 ET on October 30, 2017. Once you submit your application you will not be able to edit any of your answers or business information.

How are the Award winners determined?

After all of the completed and submitted applications are received, Synchrony, its representatives and a panel of judges will determine the winners based on the Judging Criteria outlined in the Contest Official Rules.

Do winners need to pay taxes on the Awards received?

Yes. Award winners are responsible for any Federal, State and/or Local taxes due. See Contest Official Rules for details.

Why is part of the Award designated for ‘bettering the community’?

As the cornerstone of the communities they serve, small businesses are often asked to support numerous local organizations, schools, groups, civic initiatives and community projects through sponsorships, product or cash donations and volunteerism – all at an expense to the business. The ‘better the community’ portion of the prize gives the Award winners the unique opportunity to fund or invest in local initiatives that are close to their heart.

The Working Forward Small Business Awards is open to small businesses whose principal place of business is in the 50 United States, D.C., Puerto Rico or US Territories and that are enrolled as dealers in a Synchrony credit card or installment sale financing program (each, a “Dealer”) as of September 24, 2017, with thirty (30) or fewer full-time, year-round employees. The Dealer’s account with Synchrony Bank must be in good standing at the time of entry and prize award for the Dealer to be eligible.
